Members of the Airport Technology R&D Branch attended the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. January 7 -11, 2024. The Annual Meeting provides an important opportunity for transportation professionals from around the world to connect and address topics that are crucial to advancing transportation research domestically and internationally. More than 13,000 professionals attended the 2024 Annual Meeting.
Representatives from the Branch were Dr. David Brill, Mat Brynick, Dr. Navneet Garg, Russ Gorman, Dr. Richard Ji, Qingge Jia, Dr. Daniel Offenbacher, Dr. Wesley Major, and Wilfredo Villafane. ATR personnel met with key stakeholders throughout the conference to discuss critical transportation research topics.
Drs. Brill, Garg, and Offenbacher presented the workshop “Reporting Airport Pavement Strength Using FAARFIELD 2.1.” Dr. Garg presented “FAA Research Update” in the ASCE Airfield Pavement Committee Meeting. Papers co-authored by Dr. Garg were presented in podium and poster sessions, including “Preliminary Evaluation of Rutting Tests Criteria for Flexible Airfield Pavements.” The ATR delegation attended sessions on various topics including Pavement Management Systems for Airport, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications, and Climate Change Effects on Asphalt Mixture Performance Prediction.
