Site Visit at Teterboro Airport

Jim Patterson, Mike DiPilato, and Darian Byrd from the Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) branch met with personnel from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Teterboro Air Traffic Control Tower, and FAA Eastern Region Special Projects Team at Teterboro Airport (TEB) in Teterboro, NJ on June 24, 2024 to discuss the marking and lighting of a radio tower.

ATR personnel assessed the radio tower at different times: daytime, twilight, and night, and at different distances, headings, and elevations. They ensured that the tower met the requirements in FAA Advisory Circular 70/7460-1, Obstruction Marking and Lighting, which describes the FAA’s standards for marking and lighting structures to promote aviation safety.
