Dr. Navneet Garg of the Airport Technology Research & Development Branch (ATR) attended the Permanent International Association of Road Congress (PIARC)’s World Road Congress in Prague, Czech Republic.
Dr. Garg co-chaired the workshop “Research and Innovation for the Benefit of Greener and More Sustainable Airfield Pavements” during which he made three presentations titled:
- Advanced Measurement Device Dedicated to Interface Characterization
- Quantifying Environmental Impact of Airport Pavement Projects
- Green” Materials Research at FAA’S NAPMRC; US-French Cooperation – Materials Exchange
The session drew approximately 90 attendees from over 30 countries including government agencies, consultants, industry stakeholders, and members of academia.
Workshops such as these shine a spotlight on FAA’s role as a global leader. Many of the countries in attendance follow FAA specifications for airport pavement design and construction, and eagerly anticipate receiving specifications for the use of “greener materials” once available.
The World Road Congress was held on October 2-6, 2023, with more than 4,000 attendees from approximately 123 countries.
