ANG-E26’s Small Unmanned Aircraft System’s (sUAS) team is the recipient of a U.S. DOT Secretary’s Award – the highest level of awards within the DOT. The team – consisting of Mike DiPilato, Jim Patterson, Keith Bagot, Matt Brynick, Garrison Canter, Wesley Major, and Nick Subbotin - received the Secretary’s Team Award, which is given in recognition of groups whose performance exemplifies teamwork, and whose efforts contribute significantly to the accomplishment of the mission and goals of the Department.
The team was recognized for achievements in expanding airport safety and innovation by integrating sUAS on airport grounds. Their efforts included research and testing at five airports across the country and required significant collaboration with other federal agencies and industry partners.
Mike DiPilato accepted the award on behalf of the sUAS team at the DOT Annual Awards Ceremony on January 26 in Washington, D.C. The group also received honors from the FAA Administrator and senior leadership at the FAA Ceremony Recognizing U.S. DOT Secretary Awards Recipients on January 27.
