A Method for Computer Simulation of Airport Surface Traffic

A method of simulating airport surface traffic using a fast-time digital simulation technique is presented in this report.  The control process that regulates airport traffic (both aircraft and ground vehicles) is described, and it is proposed that the airport surface environment be handled by taxiway and terminal subsystems.  A method of approach is described for the generation of the traffic samples, route selection, conducting the simulation and validation of its results.  It was concluded that the digital simulation methods are feasible to produce quantitative improvements in the use of the airport surface.  A bibliography of references in included.
