Dr. Navneet Garg from the FAA Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) branch and Dr. Dario Batioja from Applied Research Associates (ARA) attended and participated in the 2024 International Conference of the International Society of Asphalt Pavements (ISAP) on June 1-7, 2024, in Montreal, Canada. More than 300 participants from 34 countries attended the conference.
Dr. Garg conducted a workshop on Airport Pavement - Design & Evaluation jointly with Dr. Michael Broutin from the Directorate General for Civil Aviation-French Civil Aviation Center (DGAC/STAC), France. More than 80 participants attended the workshop. Dr. Garg also presented a paper titled A French-American Collaboration for Airfield Pavement Interface Characterization Under Rolling-Wheel Solicitation. This paper is a collaboration between FAA ATR and DGAC/STAC France. In addition, he co-chaired a session of the ISAP Technical Committee on Pavement Field Evaluation.
Dr. Batioja presented a paper titled High Temperature Indirect Tensile Test to Assess Asphalt Rutting Performance in Airfield Mixes. Dr. Garg and Dr. Hasan Kazmee, from ARA, are co-authors on this paper.
Dr. Garg met with professors from École Nationale des Travaux Publics de l'État, Vaulx-en-Velin, France; University of Parma, Italy; and the University of New Hampshire to discuss an international project on the use of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) and rejuvenators. He will serve as an advisor to the project team (composed of academics and industry professionals).
