Dr. Richard Ji from the FAA Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) branch attended the Falling-Weight Deflectometer (FWD) User Group (FWDUG) Annual Meeting on September 18-19, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. Dr. Ji gave a presentation entitled Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Its Analysis for the Trafficking in Construction Cycle 9 at the FAA National Airport Pavement Test Facility (NAPTF), which discussed the findings from the most recent asphalt pavement experiment at the NAPTF. The annual meeting updates the progress of NDT technologies. Approximately 80 participants from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), state Departments of Transportation, universities, and industries attended. Professors and engineers from Sweden and Denmark presented their data analysis on pavement layer structure using FWD. Overall, 16 presentations covered the new technology and analysis method, Traffic Speed Device (TSD), FWD, data interpretation and correlation, and pavement material characterization. Since 2012, Dr. Ji has been an FWDUG Board Director, helping to organize the event.
