Qingge Jia / Thursday, April 11, 2024 / Categories: News Sustainable Aviation Energy Conference Jim Layton and Russ Gorman from the Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) branch attended the Sustainable Aviation Energy Conference hosted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Grapevine, Texas, on April 1-3, 2024. The conference focused on the transition from current fuels to the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), electric power, and hydrogen fuel. Conferences such as this are critical to help inform ATR’s research focus and approach to driving sustainability. A core theme of the conference was the need to plan for the conversion to alternate fuels, especially the use of SAF in the near term. Layton attended a workshop on airport-enabling efforts and Gorman attended the alternate fueling infrastructure workshop.
