Mexican Delegation Visit

Airport Technology Research & Development Branch (ATR) personnel hosted 18 representatives from Mexican Asphalt Pavement Association (La Asociacion Mexicana del Asfalto, AMAAC) on June 21-23, 2023. The group consisted of asphalt producers, Center for Road Safety and Infrastructure Innovation representatives, consultants, and academia. The group toured ATR’s pavement test facilities, the National Airport Pavement Test Facility (NAPTF), the National Airport Pavement & Materials Research Center (NAPMRC), and the NexGen Pavement Materials Laboratory.

In addition to the facility tours, the group held meetings for three days on airport pavement design, materials, construction, and evaluation, rehabilitation of airport pavements, pavement management systems, sustainability, and Airport Asphalt Pavement Technology Program (FAA and NAPA partnership). The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) also participated in the meeting, and was represented by Dr. Richard Willis (Vice President, Engineering, Research & Technology), Brett Williams (Director, Engineering & Technical Support), Jean-Paul Fort (Director, Pavement Engineering & Innovation).
