Keynote Speech - Mexican Asphalt Pavement Association (AMMAC) Conference
Keynote Speech - Mexican Asphalt Pavement Association (AMMAC) Conference: Dr. Navneet Garg of the Airport Technology Research & Development Branch (ATR) was the Keynote Speaker at the Mexican Asphalt Pavement Association Conference in Cancun, Mexico on August 21-25, 2023. The conference theme Circular Economy relates closely to research conducted at FAA’s National Airport Pavement & Materials Research Center (NAPMRC). Dr. Garg’s keynote speech “Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) for Airport Pavements – Past, Present, and Look into the Future” provided insightful updates on FAA research and potential innovations.
Dr. Garg also gave two presentations during the Airport Pavement Workshop held a day before the conference, “Introduction to ACR-PCR Concepts” and “PCR Computations for Flexible Pavements using FAARFIELD 2.0”.
The conference drew more than 900 attendees, including engineers, asphalt industry representatives, professors and students, government research agencies, and policy makers.
ATR’s participation in the conference highlights FAA’s role as a global leader in aviation research and innovation. Earlier this year, representatives from the Mexican Asphalt Pavement Association traveled to the Technical Center to meet with ATR engineers and tour the pavement facilities.
