Qingge Jia / Monday, August 12, 2024 / Categories: News International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Rescue and Fire Fighting Working Group Keith Bagot of the Airport Technology Research & Development (ATR) branch attended the 20th Meeting of the Rescue and Fire Fighting Working Group (RFFWG) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Aerodrome Design and Operations Panel (ADOP). The group discussed adding a rescue and firefighting chapter to the ICAO document Procedures for Air Navigation - Aerodromes (PANS-Aerodromes) and revising a chapter on rescue and fire fighting in ICAO’s Airport Services Manual. Other topics included the transition from aqueous film-forming foams to eco-friendly fluorine-free foams and a presentation on the recent Japan Airlines A350 crash and post-crash fire in Tokyo. The meeting was held in Montréal, Canada, on July 29-August 2, 2024. Approximately 20 attendees from eight countries participated.
