ICAO Aerodrome Pavement Expert Group

Dr. David Brill of the Airport Technology Research & Development Branch (ATR) attended the 8th meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Aerodrome Pavement Expert Group.  The meeting was held in Montreal, Canada on June 26-28, 2023 with eleven attendees from six countries (US, UK, France, Australia, Brazil, and India). A combined meeting with the ICAO Friction Task Force was held on June 28, 2023 with an additional twelve attendees from countries including Japan, France, and Austria.

Dr. Brill participated in the discussion session on FAA’s ACR-PCR (Aircraft Classification Rating-Pavement Classification Rating) System materials. He also demonstrated updates to the ICAO-ACR software that enables it to read the FAARFIELD (FAA Rigid and Flexible Iterative Elastic Layered Design) aircraft library, and open user-defined aircraft created in the FAARFIELD environment.

Meetings such as this provide visibility for FAA’s work products and important exchanges on global developments.
