ARFF Working Group

ARFF Working Group: Keith Bagot and Jeremy Casey of the Airport Technology Research & Development Branch (ATR) attended the Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) Annual International Education Symposium, held September 23–26, 2023 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Keith Bagot received the prestigious 2023 Legend Award for his significant contributions to the advancement of aviation fire safety, and his long-time commitment to helping shape the direction of the ARFF community.

In addition, the FAA ARFF Research Program team consisting of Keith Bagot, Jeremy Casey, Jonathan Torres (formerly of ANG-E261), and the Battelle support contract team, was awarded the Karl Beeman Award for Technical Achievement for fluorine free foam (F3) research. The award specifically recognizes technical, manufacturing, or engineering achievements in aviation fire protection. Keith Bagot also served as a presenter, sharing key updates about FAA’s F3 research.

The Symposium drew more than 550 participants from more than 15 countries.
