ALACPA Seminar

Dr. David Brill and Dr. Navneet Garg of the Airport Technology Research & Development Branch (ATR) represented the FAA at the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Airfield Pavements’ annual Airport Pavement Seminar. The association, known by its Spanish acronym ALACPA, supports member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of airfield pavements. The Airport Pavement Seminar provides a space to share and discuss findings on airport pavement research globally.

Drs. Brill and Garg facilitated the FAARFIELD/ACR-PCR Workshop & Panel Discussion. ACR-PCR (Aircraft Classification Rating-Pavement Classification Rating) was a major topic at the seminar, given the November 2024 deadline to fully transition to PCR from the older PCN system. Dr. Brill also shared the Update on National Airport Pavement Test Facility - Construction Cycle 8 Test session, and Dr. Garg presented the session Use of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) in Airport Pavements.

The event was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from September 4-7, 2023, with more than 200 attendees from approximately 22 countries.
