Wheel Load/Tire Pressure
Three wheel load levels of 45,000 pounds, 52,000 pounds, and 70,000 pounds were applied on the test sections over the four testing periods as indicated in the below table. As indicated in the table, MRS-1 was not trafficked at a load higher than 45,000 pounds per wheel, which was sufficient to cause failure in the low-strength test items at a reasonable number of passes. However, higher loads were needed to fail the medium- and high-strength test items. The nominal tire inflation pressure for all load levels was 250 psi, although actual tire pressures during testing varied with traffic.
